This debut novel explores the complexities of relationships through the simplicity of reflecting God’s character. Momma, Where Do Ugly People Come From? discusses the timely and universal ramifications of social bullying while placing an emphasis on how faith and family can create the foundation of a person’s moral compass.
Watch the story unfold as a clever six-year-old Mia Phillips matures and even teaches her mother a thing or two about executing one of God’s greatest commandments—love.
One thing I discovered is that being an author is not for the faint-hearted!
“The race is not given to the swift nor to the strong… but time and chance happens to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV
Writing my first book was truly an emotional roller coaster! From eager and hopeful to frustrated and filled with doubt… Once I could see the course so clear, laid out perfectly in front of me, there’s a sudden unexpected drop. My stomach shoots up to my throat. I rock helplessly side-to-side due to the shaky turbulence or the squealing wheels against the rickety wooden platform. The bumps and the spirals were enough to make me nauseas. Yet I persevered. Admittingly the deeper purpose behind this book is the only reason I was able to endure.
I am still on the rollercoaster. I am still learning the course, but I’m happy to share some of the lessons I’ve learned about writing, authorpreneurship and self-publishing.

About the author
Having always had a passion for writing, I accepted the assignment to write this novel. My professional career start with the humble beginnings of a newspaper journalist. When that wasn’t as exciting as I hoped, I ventured into television, then the digital sphere of blogging and content creation. Thankful for an opportunity to add “Published Author” to the repertoire. I am excited to see where this journey takes me next.
